Colorado offers us the best seasons. One of the many ways you can take advantage of summer is throw easy themed backyard BBQ’s with family and/or friends. I looked at tons of websites to find a handful of the best party ideas and rolled them into this one article just for you! Let’s get started.

1. Ultimate 4th of July Party

Throwing a festive backyard BBQ for the Fourth of July doesn’t have to be stressful. Here are some easy and fun DIY ideas you can use so you can have the ultimate 4th of July party everyone will remember. Even the kids will love doing some of these!

Patriotic Lollipop Centerpiece

You can make this festive centerpiece in about 10 minutes. You will only need 3 supplies to assemble this:

-5″ or 6″ Foam Ball
-1 galvanized buckets 5″-6″ diameter
-40 large lollipops

Using a ball that is slightly smaller than the bucket opening will allow it to fit nice and snug without having to glue it into place. This helps when someone takes a lollipop off, the entire ball doesn’t come with it!

This picture is showing a 5″ ball in a 6″ bucket that was found at Target. Poke the lollipops in the ball starting at the center, creating a line, and working outward.

TIP: Twist the lollipop wrappers at the base to tighten them before inserting them into the ball. This makes it easier to insert and will keep them nice and secure.

Painted Lawn Stars

This DIY Lawn Idea for your party is very easy and leaves a big impression! All you need is a piece of old cardboard with a star cut out and some construction marking spray paint. This can be found at any home improvement store. This specific spray paint was made for using on grass and will not kill your grass. As a side note, it dries quickly and is permanent. It only comes off when the grass grows and you mow it off.

So as you can see, it’s fun, patriotic, and super easy.

Fun & Games Station

Snap! Crackle! Pop! Everyone will love this festive set-up at your backyard BBQ. ESPECIALLY the kiddos! Get out your mason jars and fill them with Holiday-Colored Bubbles, Snaps, and Sparklers. You can tie Raffia or Straw String around the jars to give it that extra festive look. Label each mason jar and let the fun begin!

You can even take it a step further and use burlap as the table cover, decorate it with a wooden flag decoration, and you can also see flag fans in the corner of this picture.

2. Backyard S’more Party

Backyard S’more Parties are a lot of fun, especially if you have a fire pit or outdoor fireplace. Set up a Self-Serve S’more Bar on a table where everyone can build their own s’mores. The best part about S’more Parties is the only prep really involved is coming up with a fun display.

Have multiple choices to choose from at the S’mores Bar Party Table. Some ideas would be the classic HERSHEY’S, Cookies ‘N Cream HERSHEY’S, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Caramels or Rolos, Graham Crackers (Honey, Cinnamon, even Chocolate flavored), Sliced Strawberries, Ritz Crackers, and of course Marshmallows. You can put marshmallows in a large glass canister with tongs and coat them in powdered sugar to keep them from getting sticky as the night goes by.

If you want to go over and beyond, dip marshmallows in chocolate, then in graham cracker crumbs. This creates delicious mini s’more bites for your party.

Create a “Sticky Finger” station because we know how much marshmallows and kids get along! Inside a bucket you can put in hand wipes and paper towels. You can even put in bug spray and sunscreen for anyone that forgot theirs!
